- ☀️ Light
Thrives in bright direct light, but can also tolerate bright indirect light
- 💧 Watering
Water every 2 to 3 weeks, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. In brighter light, the cactus will need more frequent watering.
- 🤒 Signs of an unhappy plant
A plant that turns yellow, droops, with brown spots and soft roots is telling you it's time to take care of it!
Caring for your cacti
🌵 Fancy adding a little prickle to your home?
Cacti are perfect for bringing an exotic touch to your interior. They are fascinating plants and relatively easy to care for. But to get the most out of them, it's essential to know a few basic rules. Don't worry, we're here to share them with you!
The importance of light for cacti
Cacti need maximum light to thrive.
To start with, it's crucial to place your cacti near a south-facing window. This exposure ensures they receive abundant direct light, which is essential for their growth. An east or west orientation can also work well.
On the other hand, a north-facing window should be avoided as it won't provide enough light, which could lead to the plant's death...
It's also worth knowing that the watering frequency required depends on light intensity: the more intense the light, the more frequently you'll need to water.
Watering cacti
Watering is a crucial part of cactus care and should be adjusted according to the seasons. During the growing season, which runs from April to October, watering should be more frequent. If your cacti receive maximum light, they may need watering up to twice a week.
However, if the light is less intense, watering once a month may be sufficient.
During the winter months, cacti need very little water. We recommend watering your cactus very sparingly during this period, or not at all. In winter, the available light is often insufficient to support new growth.
This will allow cacti to bloom more vigorously in spring or summer.
Using artificial light
If you'd like to use grow lights for your cacti, it's important to simulate natural light as closely as possible.
You can use grow lights to provide continuous light (around 12 to 20 hours per day). This can trick the cactus into thinking it's still in the growing season.
However, for this to work, you also need to maintain an adequate temperature, above 15°C.
By providing continuous light and an adequate temperature, your cacti can grow even during the winter months.
The importance of fertilisation
Fertilisation is essential for healthy cactus growth. During the growing season, from April to October, it's important to provide extra nutrients. The original soil may become depleted of nutrients after a few months.
You can use our nourishing cactus serum. It's specially designed to stimulate the growth of cacti, succulents and fat plants. The natural nutrients in the serum will allow them to develop strong roots.
Using it couldn't be simpler!
Add 2 drops to 250 ml of watering water during the growing period. You can feed your cactus every other watering.
Practical tips for beginners
There are varieties of cacti and succulents that are easier to care for, such as the Faucaria tigrina.
Cacti, generally speaking, with their built-in survival mechanisms, are perfect for those who want low-maintenance plants! But they still need a little attention to truly thrive.
Make sure you place your cacti somewhere they get enough light and follow our tips ;)
